First step

If you want to know more about how therapy with me might help, a short chat on the phone will usually answer any questions you have. Contact me by email or leave a Voicemail and we can arrange a time to speak. Please allow 15 minutes for the call, there is no charge or obligation attached. Please note I cannot offer a crisis service. If you need urgent help, please contact your GP or go to A+E.

Initial meeting

In our first session, the focus is on establishing your therapeutic goals. It’s useful to know something of your circumstances, how you use your time, and who is and has been important to you. You only share as much as you’re comfortable with.

You might have questions about how therapy could help or what change you can expect. You might have questions about how many sessions you will need and what types of therapy will be most suited to you.

This first meeting is very much an assessment for both sides. For the therapist, it is to establish if they can offer what the client needs. For the client, it is often to see if they have confidence in the therapist.

On-going sessions

Weekly meetings are optimal, to gain some therapeutic momentum, but I can also offer fortnightly and monthly slots.

Sessions last 50 minutes. I will ensure we begin and end on time. Time is one of the boundaries which ensures our work takes place in a safe, contained space. You might like to record our work on your phone or take notes. You might think about how you use the time immediately after our session. Is there space to process our conversation?

We can work in an open-ended fashion or establish in the first meeting how many sessions you may need to achieve your goals. Either way, we will review our work at the end of each session to ensure we are moving not drifting.

Sessions cost £160, invoiced monthly in arrears for you to pay by bank transfer.

I am accredited with most major health insurers but please alert me if you plan to use health insurance as each has different criteria. I can no longer accept referrals from Axa.

Cancellations and starting late

If you cancel with at least 24 hours notice, there is no charge.

Less than 24 hours notice will mean the fee is payable as the time has been set aside and no-one else will be able to use it. Some insurers will not cover the cost of unattended sessions so they will have to be charged to the client.

If you arrive late, we can use the time remaining but the session must end at the scheduled time.
